The AK-74 assault rifle is a modernized version of the AK-47 developed in 1974.The latest variant, issued to the Russian troops since early 1990s. When it first appeared, the AK-74M was assumed by NATO to be a limited-production version to equip special forces .
Key differences from the earlier AK-74M rifles are the side-folding plastic butt stock and the scope mounting rail on the left side of the receiver.
